The failure of the year: in Russia unsuccessfully tested “the world’s most powerful rocket”

This was not expected.

Russia has once again postponed the test missile “Sarmat” destined to replace the world’s most powerful rocket 15А18 complex R-36M2 “Voivod” (index NATO SS-18 mod. 5/6 Satan).

The rescheduling was caused by the need to conduct additional tests of the new missile on the stands of the Krasnoyarsk machine-building plant.

It is expected that the deployment of the new missiles will begin in 2019-2020.

The test missile “Sarmat” was supposed to begin in 2016, but the deadline was postponed several times, first in March, then to June 2017.

As the newspaper notes, another delay caused by the rocket.

Until the end of the year the Krasnoyarsk machine-building plant must collect three samples of “Sarmat” with the weight and size layout instead of standard head part. Missile test including the test start, according to initial plans, should be completed before 2020.

Ballistic missile “Sarmat” is developed in Russia since the beginning of 2010. She needs to replace the strategic missile forces withdrawn from service upon expiration of the assigned service life of ICBM complex “Governor” was built by Yuzhmash in the river in the late 1980’s-early 1990-ies.

The new missiles should be deployed in the strategic missile forces: the 13th Orenburg red banner missile division (Orenburg region, Clear the village dombarovskiy) and 62nd Uzhurskaya red banner division named after the 60th anniversary of the USSR (Krasnoyarsk Krai, a village of Uzhur-4).
