Despite the fact that the price is too high, it will still increase.
The real cost of gas, which would have to be in Ukraine, it is 3.5 thousand UAH per 1 thousand cubic meters instead of 7 thousand hryvnias.
“Until October 18 we are awaiting confirmation – will increase or not. As far as I know, nothing has changed at the moment. The price will be somewhere in the corridor of 8.5 – 9 thousand hryvnias for 1 thousand cubic meters. This is the first stage, October – November and April-may it will be about 14.5 thousand hryvnia in advance. They put such parameters. Of course, let’s not discard some kind of political strong-willed decision of the government, Groysman, Poroshenko, or someone else who will say that we don’t have to raise the price of gas and, accordingly, the negotiations with the IMF will not get a logical conclusion because we don’t get the tranche. The whole question rests in the tranche, that is, the money is needed,” – said the expert.
According to Yuriy Korolchuk, likely to raise the price of gas, but again – an important point: you need to understand that the price of 7 thousand hryvnias at the moment is already overpriced.
“The real price that would have to be, it is 3.5 thousand UAH. Moreover, even if we start from the fact that now the price of 7 thousand hryvnia, in the Memorandum with the IMF is recorded that the market price according to the rules of market parity should act when we are importing gas for consumers. We do not import for all consumers of gas. How much gas we produce, so we delivered. Because I don’t see any contradiction to IMF for example did not postponed or did not reconsider this issue. But we see that situation that, most likely, will increase”, – he said.
Recall, the Cabinet of Ministers extended the special obligations of “Naftogaz of Ukraine” until 18 October 2018. The validity of the Ordinance expired on October 1. Thus, the government once again delay the increase of tariffs for gas. The last time the deadline was postponed from 1 September to beginning of October.
Ukraine is continuing negotiations with the International monetary Fund (IMF) to raise gas prices. The negotiation process lasts from July 2017. The Fund insists on raising gas prices for the population, which, according to various estimates, can range from 30 to 60% in connection with growth of prices on international markets, while the Cabinet considers such a sharp increase in unjustified. During the visit of the IMF mission to Kyiv in September, has reached agreement in principle on a gradual increase in gas prices, but the tariffs have not yet been announced.
