Eksitony it’s quite an exotic condensate.

American scientists have confirmed the existence of substances acetone, which is a condensate of exciton — coupled with each other electrons and “holes”.

For the first time this state of matter was predicted almost 50 years ago.

Eksitony it’s quite an exotic condensate, which exhibits macroscopic quantum phenomena such as superfluidity or sverkhprovodimosti. It consists of excitons, particles, which is formed from the unlikely merging of the evacuated electron and hole that he leaves. A hole thus behaves like a charged particle.

In their experiments on undoped crystals diselenide titanium researchers from the University of Illinois were able to observe the material itself and its preceding soft plasmon phase, which proves the existence of acetone. The phase of the precursor occurs when the material approaches its critical temperature.

Scientists have reproduced their results 5 times on different splittings of the crystal during testing to get real evidence. The study was conducted by Peter Abbamonte from the University of Illinois along with graduate students Anshula a Cougar. and mindy Cancer.

“This result is of cosmic significance. Since then, the term “exitone” was introduced in 1960 by the physicist-theorist Bart Halperin, physics sought to demonstrate its existence. Theorists argue whether it is insulator, perfect conductor, or a superfluid liquid – with some convincing arguments from all sides. Since the 1970’s, many experimenters have published evidence of the existence of an exciton, but their results were not definitive and could equally have been explained by a regular structural phase transition,” write the authors of the work.
