In the early 1980-ies staff photographer Agency Magnum has overcome more than 40 thousand kilometers, visiting many cities and villages of Poland. From his travels, Bruno Barbie brought an extensive photo essay about the life of the country and its people.
Photographer originally from Morocco, where he was born in 1941. He graduated from art School in Vienna in the direction of photography and graphics. Cooperation with Magnum began in 1964, since then it’s been 50 years of filming in different parts of the world: from Nigeria and Vietnam to Northern Ireland.
Work Barbie was printed in many publications during his career he has published over three dozen books. One of them he devoted to Poland. The photographer has been in this country for 8 months, together with his family he traveled to cities and villages. With the camera he documented everything you saw, allowed us to look at the world in which fought Catholicism and communism. Bruno managed to keep the memory of the lives of the people, so soon changed forever.
