The European Union will move to a new system of evaluation of hazard car

Евросоюз перейдет на новую систему оценки вредности автоThe new technology will take into account more factors than the previous one.

The European Union refuses to assess cost-effectiveness and environmental performance of vehicles on the NEDC cycle. Instead, there will be a new form of testing that involves not only measurements in laboratories, but real tests on the roads.

The consequences of “desligada” was much more far-reaching than the fines, litigation and undermine the credibility of the credibility of a number of manufacturers. So, the history of deception emission tests forced the EU to revise the previous procedure for the evaluation of ecological and economical new car. And not just to revise but to abandon it and adopt the new.

Continue laboratory tests on emissions and fuel consumption will be in the cycle NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) and WLTP (Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test Procedure), which is considered more realistic.

But that’s not all. In addition to laboratory tests, the cars will pass the tests of the RDE (Real Driving Emissions) in the field. New cars will travel on public roads, and the level of fuel consumption and emissions will be evaluated in the situations that drivers may encounter in everyday life.

It should be noted that a new test procedure will be introduced gradually. Thus, laboratory tests of the new methodology will commence on all new cars sold in the EU from 1 September next year. Road tests will be supplemented from September 1, 2019.

Automakers will continue to provide data on the consumption and emissions of its models according to the NEDC standard, but with the results of the WLTP. Thus, consumers will be able to appreciate the difference between the indicators.

In addition, the NEDC will continue to be the rule for emission standards which will come into force in Europe after 2020. Thus, the European legislators decided to ease automakers already difficult task of reducing the average CO2 emissions of their fleet to 95 grams per km.

Automotive companies have adopted innovations positively, although they will complicate their work. As stated in the official statement of the Association of European car manufacturers ACEA, the new standard will provide a “much more realistic” testing conditions and, as a consequence, will allow to evaluate the efficiency and environmental friendliness of cars.
