The EU supported the strengthening of sanctions against Russia

The final decision on the strengthening of sanctions could be adopted next week.

The European Union had previously supported the German proposal on the inclusion in the sanctions list, a few Russian individuals and companies because of the scandal with the supply of gas turbines for Siemens in the occupied Crimea, reports Reuters, citing diplomatic sources.

At the same time, the Agency notes that the final decision is still pending.

According to Agency sources, on Thursday was made a “political understanding” of the proposal, and that it was adopted in principle.

While the two diplomats said that Italy expressed skepticism about the proposal, and Luxembourg is ready to support it, but with reservations.

According to the Agency, the final decision can be made next week.

We will remind, the Agency Reuters with reference to three well-informed source reported that Russia has delivered two turbines for power plants made by the German company Siemens, in the occupied Crimea. Deliveries were made to bypass the sanctions.

Siemens stated that its turbines could not get to the Crimea.

In turn, the Russian state-owned company Technopromexport, which builds power plants, said he bought the equipment on the secondary market, but refused to disclose the manufacturer.

Soon, Siemens stated that all four gas turbines, delivered in the summer to plant in Taman, went to the occupied Crimea illegally.

Later the German company has offered the Russian side to buy the turbine.
