The heads of state and government and heads of the institutions of the European Union signed a political Declaration outlining a strategy for further integration of the community consisting of 27 member countries.
The ceremony took place in Rome, where European leaders gathered for a summit on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the EU.
The Declaration notes the achievements of European integration over 60 years, and also includes current challenges for the EU and the General vision of the future for the next years.
By signing the document, the leaders have committed themselves to implement the so-called Roman agenda, including security, further economic development and prosperity, social policy and adoption of a strong Europe on the global stage.
