The EU remains firm in supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
The European Union has declared non-recognition of Russian presidential elections on March 18 on the territory of annexed Crimea.
Note that presidential elections were held in Russia on March 18 and by results of calculation of 99,81% of all votes won by the incumbent head of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
“The EU does not recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol by the Russian Federation, and therefore do not recognize the elections in Crimea”, – stressed in the EU.
The statement also notes that observers from the Office for democratic institutions and human rights OSCE, including representatives from member countries of the EU, has not carried out any monitoring in the occupied territories of Ukraine.
At the same time, taking into account the previous evaluation by an internationally recognized observation mission of the OSCE, the European Union noted that the presidential elections in Russia were held under full legal and political control and pressure on opponents.
