The doctors: the introduction of a 4-day work week will increase the number of people with obesity and neurotics

“95% of people will devote themselves to idleness”

Doctors interviewed by RIA “Novosti” considered that the transition to a four-day workweek will increase the number of Russians who are obese and suffering from neurotic disorders.

“In very rare cases, people begin to engage in self-development, including sports, if they have free time. 95% of people will devote themselves to idleness. Therefore, will increase the number of people with obesity,” said therapist and nutritionist Elena Tikhomirova.

In her opinion, if a person has a job that he likes, then the additional output will increase fears, phobias and neuroses, because, in the opinion Tikhomirova, the Russians will think that something is wrong and waiting for the catch.

Psychiatrist, psychotherapist, candidate of medical Sciences Lev Perezhogin said that people who are confident and engaged in productive intellectual, highly qualified labor, will be very happy innovation, and those who perform heavy physical unskilled labor will be unhappy because their salary does not depend on the quality of the work performed and the number.

As for family life, the new schedule will bring a positive effect if the relationship was good. “Imagine the situation: you have an extra day off, and your husband. If you love one another, for you it is an occasion to spend time together, to go somewhere, the family is happy and if the relationship is bad, it is once a day for irritation,” said the Perezhogin.

The Federation of independent trade unions of Russia called for a shorter working week to four days while maintaining staff salaries. The transition to the four-day week as the basis of social and labor contract announced by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev during a speech at the International labour conference in Geneva.
