Timothy John Berners-Lee received a $1 million prize for the world wide web.
Internet inventor, Timothy Berners-Lee received the Turing award from the Association of computing machinery in the amount of $1 million.
The scientist has received the award “for the invention of the world wide web, the first web browser and key protocols and algorithms which have influenced the development of the Internet.” The award ceremony at the official level on 24 June.
It is known that in 1989, Berners-Lee created while working at CERN over the internal system of exchange of documents Enquire, a hypertext project, known now as the Internet. In addition, he invented key technologies that allowed the creation of the Internet in its modern form, such as URL, HTTP and HTML.
The Turing prize is awarded annually to one or more scientists, one of the sponsors is a Google. Its size is $1 million.
