Two years have passed since the resounding triumph of the film “Mad Max: fury Road”, and nobody doubted that the sequel will not be the case. Fortunately soon the creators themselves announced that they have big plans for this wonderful post-apocalyptic universe. But eventually it stalled, and Director George Miller began to torture the fans: I don’t want, I want. Well, now, it seems, was clear from what Miller could lose the desire to do all this, and well, why the project stalled.
Australian media have found that between the production company Kennedy Miller Marshall and giant Warner Bros. is the litigation. The essence of the conflict is the following: according to the original agreement the guys from Kennedy Miller Marshall was supposed to get from the Door $ 7 million bonus — in the case that the final budget picture will not exceed 157 million. While costs were listed that were not recognized by the parties.
Well, some argue that this condition has been met, while others counted even budget overruns. According to Kennedy Miller Marshall, their partners were to blame for the delay of the shooting process that resulted in the inevitable expenses that should not be considered in this situation, however, in Warner Bros. disagree.
In addition, representatives of Kennedy Miller Marshall believe their rights have been violated, when the “Warner” unbeknownst to them, was attracted to the film production firm RatPac Entertainment, while in accordance with the said agreement Warner Bros. was the first thing to appeal to Kennedy Marshall Miller that they can attract additional funding.
It will all end is not clear yet. At the moment the Highest court of the state of New South Wales in Australia has just ruled that the claim will be considered there, and not in California.
George Miller and Doug Mitchell, who heads the firm Kennedy Miller Marshall, in an interview with Fairfax said that they feel frustrated that after all this work, and the crushing success of the film by renowned Studio has not fulfilled its obligations:
We would prefer to make movies with Warner Bros., not to sue them, but for more than a year, we have been unable to come to a satisfactory solution and had to go to court to understand all this.
Well, let’s hope that justice will prevail and we will finally see the continued adventures of the old Mad max.
