The court of appeal gave permission for the arrest in absentia of the former Minister of income and fees Alexander Klimenko and chose the measure of restraint in form of detention.

“To elect the suspect Klimenko A. V. a measure of restraint in form of detention,” reads the court’s decision.

The ex-Minister is now hiding from the Ukrainian justice system abroad and is wanted by Ukraine and Interpol.
Investigators suspect Klimenko in committing crimes under part 1 of article 255, part 4 of article 28 and part 5 of article 191, part 4 of article 28 of part 1 of article 366, part 4 of article 28 of part 2 of article 205 of the Criminal code of Ukraine.
The Prosecutor General’s office declared suspicion Klymenko in assigning more than 600 million UAH. He also is charged with abuse of power.
Klimenko also suspected of organizing illegal schemes of evasion from payment of taxes by the enterprises of the real sector of the economy.
