Investigators of the Prosecutor General on 25 July received the court sanction on arrest of the former mayor of Kiev Leonid Chernovetsky to deliver to the court, where he must choose a measure of restraint.
This was reported by press Secretary of the Prosecutor General Larisa Sargan on Facebook.
The Prosecutor’s office will ask about the arrest of the former mayor.
On 14 July the Prosecutor General’s office said Chernovetsky of suspicion. He is charged with abuse of office (part 2 of article 364 of the Criminal code) in the construction of a helipad on Park road in Kiev.
According to investigators, Chernovetsky is involved in illegal withdrawal, change of purpose and transfer of valuable land in lease for the construction of the helipad. Also, he is charged with understating the rent for the land and the destruction of the archaeological heritage.
The damage to the territorial community of Kyiv is estimated at 250 million.
Criminal proceedings on the construction of the helipad is being investigated under seven articles of the Criminal code: part 5, article 191 (embezzlement), part 5 of article 298 (damage cultural heritage), article 356 (arbitrariness), part 1 of article 358 (forgery), part 2 St. 364 (abuse of power), part 2 of article 364-1 (abuse of authority by officials of legal entities of private law), part 3 of article 368-4 (bribery of persons providing public services).
