The world Champions, the Germans started the tournament with a successful victory over Australia.
The scoring was opened already on the fifth minute – Lars Stindl after the transfer of Julian Brandt scored his debut goal in the shirt of Germany. The Germans have repeatedly gone into the lead, but instead conceded Thomas Rogic at the second attempt struck Bernd Leno, who did not have time to regroup and missed not the most difficult by a long shot.
And yet at the break, Germany went with a minimum advantage – Leon Goretzka earned a penalty, and Julian draxler confidently converted a judicial sentence.
In the second half Joshua Kimmich perfect pass brought on the strike Goretzka and teammate Yevhen Konoplyanka at Schalke from a lethal position has not missed.
The Australians quickly enough resumed an affair – Tomi Juric was first on the ball after another uncertain actions of the goalkeeper of the Germans. At the end of the match Germany on the counter was much closer to the fourth goal than Australia to a sensational draw.
Germany followed Chile and approved as favourites of group B. Joachim Loew’s men on June 22 in Kazan will play against Chile – this match will be positioned as an early final.
