The Central election Commission on Friday registered the first presidential candidate in the elections of 2019. He was a former Minister of ecology and natural resources Igor Shevchenko.

Another man, who, along with Shevchenko filed documents on December 31, refused to register. Lawyer Vladimir Retouch is not made necessary for the registration of 2.5 million hryvnia Deposit and filled application form with mistakes and inaccuracies.

The CEC is obliged to register a candidate or to refuse registration within 5 days from the date of receiving the documents.

We will remind that Shevchenko was the Minister of ecology and natural resources in the second Cabinet of Ministers Arseniy Yatsenyuk. He was fired a few months after his appointment.

It happened after a fire at the oil depot “BRSM-Nafta” near Kiev in June 2015. Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk publicly reprimanded Shevchenko because he was not at the scene of the fire, and on June 30, the Cabinet submitted to Parliament a proposal for dismissal of Shevchenko, with the results of the official investigation.

Shevchenko put the blame poor performance in reforming its ministries and inefficient use of funds received in the framework of sectoral budget support of the European Union. In addition, the Cabinet stated that Shevchenko had committed acts that contain corruption offences or violation of requirements for conduct of persons authorized to perform state functions.

Shevchenko accused the Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk in the “political violence” and “defending the interests of the Ukrainian clans”.

In the fall of 2015 Shevchenko ran for mayor of Belgorod-Dniester in the Odessa region, but lost the election without a chance.
