The electoral campaign for the early parliamentary elections begins on may 24.
Parliamentary election campaign starts in accordance with the law on the day following the promulgation of the decree of the President about dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada on may 24.
This is explained by the Chairman of the Central election Commission Tatyana Slipachuk at a briefing on Thursday.
“In fact, after the publication of the presidential decree on early termination of powers of the Verkhovna Rada and calling early elections and in accordance with the law on elections of people’s deputies, the election process of extraordinary elections of deputies starts on the day following the publication of the decree, that is may 24, 2019 without the adoption of the Central election Commission, any decision relative to its start,” said Slipachuk.
Slipachuk pointed out that to treat the question of constitutionality issued by the President Zelensky of the decree is not in the plane of powers of the CEC.
“We will strictly adhere to the provisions of the law for legitimate legitimate elections to be held”, — said the CEC head.
Slipachuk added that he sees the attempts of certain political players “to involve the CEC in the political process, but assured that “this will not happen”.
