Recall, November 26, the Verkhovna Rada voted for the resolution on holding elections of the President of Ukraine on 31 March 2019.
On the same day in Ukraine, martial law was imposed because of Russia’s aggressive actions in the Kerch Strait, where she captured Ukrainian ships and sailors.
President Petro Poroshenko said that the security Council has recommended to impose martial law for 60 days, but it has reduced this period to 30 days. He explained that thus wants to avoid political speculations. Opponents of Poroshenko suggested that martial law was introduced in order to cancel the elections because of the low rating of the President.
26 Dec President announced the termination of martial law and said that guarantees the holding of elections on 31 March 2019.
