Monday, November 6, the police of the County of Wilson (Texas) announced new details of the bloody massacre in the town of Sutherland springs, which occurred during a Sunday service at the First Baptist Church.
It is established that 26-year-old Devin Patrick Kelly at approximately 11.30 am local time, entered the Church and opened fire on the congregation with an assault rifle. He was dressed all in black. In addition, the assailant was wearing a vest.
In the Church at the time were 50 people. Of these, 26 were killed, 24 were injured. Among those killed was a two-year-old, 14-year-old daughter of a pastor, the woman on the eighth month of pregnancy and her three minor children.
He had shot cartridges, Kelly ran out of the Church, got in the car and tried to escape. It ran one of the residents of the town. He fired several shots at the killer, but he did not stop.
The pursuer picked up a random motorist. Together they set off in pursuit of the shooter. Raced at speeds of at least 150 kilometers per hour. Thanks to these two who came late, the police also joined the pursuit.
Kelly found a few minutes dead in the cabin of his car. Initially police could not say for sure whether he died from wounds sustained during the chase, or shot. Now, on a press-conferences the representative of the district confidently stated that the offender had committed suicide. Before you put a bullet in the head, Kelly got a call on his mobile phone to his father. He stated that he wanted to kill the congregation, but never thought I really would do it.
Installed also the killer’s motive. Among the parishioners of the First Baptist Church was the mother-in-law Kelly Michelle shields. Devin blamed her for the fact that he’s a bad influence on his daughter and grandchildren. He also called all the faithful fools. Friends spoke about Kelly as militant atheist. It is noteworthy that he was taught in Sunday school — taught children the Bible.
Daniel shields was the second wife Kelly. They were married in April 2014. Danielle gave birth to a son and a daughter. Family shields was deeply religious. Daniel works as a teacher in the Church school, and her mother is friends with the pastor’s wife in Sutherland springs and is active in the First Baptist Church.
Mrs. shields is well known in the County. Sunday, November 5, brother-in-law sent her a few text messages with threats. Apparently, Devin was intended to deal with the mother, but this Sunday her or Daniel in the Church was not.
Previously, Kelly served in the air forces of the United States. Dealt with logistics. Then he was married to Tessa Kelly. She bore him a child. In 2012, the wife filed for divorce and simultaneously accused Devin of domestic violence. The investigation was conducted. Kelly’s court-martial. He was dismissed from the air force.
