The cancellation of concerts of the famous Russian singer in Ukraine: new details

Russia has threatened to appeal to UNESCO and UNHRC.

In connection with the controversial cancellation of concerts of Russian singer Kristina Orbakaite in Ukraine, Russia has threatened to appeal to international organizations.

The Chairman of the Commission of Public chamber (OP) Russia on development of public diplomacy Yelena sutormina said it will raise UNESCO on the issue of pressure on the Russian Kiev artists.

“It is unfortunate that the culture of the Ukrainian authorities was a kind of a bargaining chip in political games. The cancellation of a concert — nothing like an example of blatant pressure on the Russian-speaking population and another attempt to “drive a wedge” between our peoples. I’m sure that this incident needs to be assessed major international organizations”, — said sutormina.

Stormin also said that it intends “to raise this issue at the next meeting of the UNHRC and the OSCE with participation of representatives of non-governmental organizations”.

Earlier Christina Aguilera announced on social networks that “due to the inability of the security” team and the audience at the concerts in Ukraine, they will be rescheduled for the fall. The singer planned to perform in March in Kiev, Dnipro, Odessa and Kharkov.

In a statement the organizers of the performance said that the reason for the cancellation was the public outrage that might arise from the fact that the stage is the performer of the aggressor. In the Palace “Ukraine” noted that Aguilera will perform before the people of Kiev 26 September 2017, if the relationship between the two countries will change for the better.
