Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal is a country in the Himalayas in South Asia. It shares borders with India and China. The capital city Kathmandu.
Nepal is located between the two most populous countries in the world. To the North is Tibet, an Autonomous region of the PRC and along the southern border, from West to East, Nepal borders with the Indian States has Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Sikkim.
North of Nepal is bordered by the Great Himalayan range, which is famous for several peaks above 8,000 m, including Everest (8,848 m) — highest mountain on Earth.
The lowest point of Nepal is situated at altitude 70 m above sea level. More than 40 % of Nepal’s territory is located above 3,000 m, so Nepal is the most mountainous country in the world.
