The predator for some time coasted along with the man.
Man diving off the coast of Australia, the British John Craig swam 7.5 miles, escaping from a tiger shark. According to the man, “a curious predator” for some time accompanied him to the shore.
The boat, which dived 34-year-old Briton moved away from the coast 7.5 miles and stood in shark Bay, 800 kilometres from Perth.
It is reported that this Bay, whose name translates as “Shark Bay” attracts every year about 120 thousand tourists.
Experienced diver Craig dived with a harpoon, but when surfaced, the yacht was not there. Craig began to call for help – and suddenly she was next to a shark.
“She was very close and was curious – came to me from different sides. She was trying to figure out who I was and whether I eat,” says Craig.
According to the British, the shark was fairly large – about four feet in length, which corresponds to the average size of the adult.
“Here I thought that I was finished – I’m about four miles from the shore, and haunts me a huge tiger shark. I thought it was over, so I’m going to die,” says Craig.
The frightened British went swimming. After some time he saw on the horizon the red rocks of the Peninsula Peron and headed for him.
The shark was chasing Craig for 15 minutes, but did not attack. “When I looked around, I saw emerging from the mist shark face that was almost touching my fins, she followed me,” says the diver.
Craig at some point, it seemed that the shark accompanies him to shore, but after a while it disappeared.
Three hours later, Craig reached the shore. From there, he saw planes and boats are involved in search operations at sea. To attract the attention of rescuers Craig failed and he walked in the direction of travel of the base.
Half an hour later Craig spotted from the air, and after a time to the shore moored boat with the rescuers.
“I could not believe that somebody was able to swim such a distance in such a short time. Perhaps, when you customize shark, […] is something of a coach,” commented the rescuer Glenn Ridgley.
