The remains of a Soviet figure skater was given to fire.
Two-time Olympic champion in figure skating Lyudmila Belousova died in Geneva, her body cremated. About it reports a site of Federation of figure skating of Russia (FSFR).
Belousova, who with partner Oleg Protopopov, last week he died in Switzerland after a long illness at the age of 81 years.
“September 22, Lyudmila Belousova and Oleg Protopopov came back from the US to Geneva. In the US, Lyudmila Evgenievna worse, the American health insurance she had, so it was decided to fly home. Within five days Oleg was nearby with his wife. After the death of Lyudmila E. her body was cremated, the funeral have not been announced”, – is told in message FSFR with reference to coach sporting a pair of the Swiss Heinz Wirtz.
Belousova was born November 22, 1935 in Ulyanovsk, graduated from the Leningrad Institute of railway transport engineers. After his sports career, he continued to perform with Protopopov in the Leningrad ballet on ice. In 1979, after a foreign tour skaters left to live in Switzerland.
In addition to the two titles of Olympic champion (1964, 1968), paired with Belousova Protopopov was also a four-time world champion (1965, 1966, 1967, 1968).
