The new rules also suspend the issuance of licenses for tourist accommodation facilities. In addition, limit the number offered by hotels and other similar institutions places for travelers.

In 2016 in Barcelona visited by about 32 million tourists, about half of them stayed overnight. The Spanish population of the city is about 1.6 million people.
