The authorities decided not to give Isaac ROC

St. Isaac’s Cathedral in St. Petersburg until transferred to the ROC.

According to RBC, the authorities have decided not to do it including because of dissatisfaction with the residents of St. Petersburg, where in September will be held gubernatorial elections.

“All parties have come to understand that the transfer of Isaac is not the primary issue,” said RBC source in the government, adding that the issue removed from the agenda.

St. Isaac’s Cathedral was sanctified in 1858 and was considered the main symbol of Orthodox Russia. In Soviet times, the Church created the State antireligious Museum. The divine services recommenced in 1990.
