The General staff of the Armed forces of Ukraine was introduced several measures in the case of a possible invasion of the Russian Federation during the exercise Zapad-2017 in Belarus.
This was announced by the Minister of defence Stepan Poltorak after the submission of Lieutenant-General Anatoly Sirotenko new head of the National defence University of Ukraine named after Ivan Chernyakhovsky.
“We are monitoring the situation. We are aware of all the movements of Russian troops to our border. We understand what threats can occur and we will react adequately to the threats that exist, and which are the exercises,” he said.
The head of the Ukrainian defense Minister stressed that we are talking about the “threat of invasion”.
Thus Poltorak added that the threat of invasion is not excluded even regardless of the exercise.
“Everything that happens on the border with Ukraine, we consider as an unfriendly act and a threat to Ukraine”, – concluded the Minister.
Belarusian-Russian military exercises will be held from 14 to 20 September. It is planned that the exercise will be attended by up to 13 thousand troops.
