Ukrainian tennis player Sergiy Stakhovsky was successfully launched in the main draw clay tournament of series ATP-250 with a prize Fund of €540,310.
Stakhovsky in the final qualification lost Maximilian Marterer (6:7, 3:6), but the injury of the Frenchman Adrian Mannarino allowed the Ukrainian to the status of “lucky loser” to start in the main grid, the “Hungarian Open”.
In the first round Sergey met with the 47th-ranked Florian Mayer. Stakhovsky tried to win only their second win of the season at the tournaments of ATP series.
At the start of the match, the players began to actively exchange breaks. Stakhovsky was leading 3:1, but lost his advantage. And yet, the first set remained for the Ukrainian – Meyer with the score 4:5 did not hold his serve and was in a position to catch up.
The second set lasted only 15 minutes – with the score 0:3 Mayer refused to continue the fight. Stakhovsky reached the second round and his next opponent will be Italian Paolo Lorenzi, seeded in the tournament at the sixth number.
Victory in the first round of the tournament in Budapest allows you to Sergey Stakhovsky to rely on the return in the top 100 of the ATP ranking. In the preliminary
classification of Ukrainian progressed to the 96-th row.
