The first racket of Ukraine Oleksandr Dolgopolov, was successfully launched at a major clay tournament of the ATP 500.
After a sensational breakthrough in Buenos Aires, Dolgopolov moved to Rio de Janeiro, where Ukrainians had to defend his last year’s quarterfinals. The first step to repeating the result in the first round Alexander dealt with a titled Spaniard David Ferrer.
In each set Dolgopolov did two breaks and once lost a game on his serve. Ukrainian was superior to his opponent on tempo, due to which regularly delighted the audience with a spectacular prank.
The victory over Ferrer, Dolgopolov became the sixth in a row, and in four games during his successful series of Ukrainian beat players from the top 30 of the ATP ranking.
The output of the quarter-finals, Dolgopolov will compete with 73-th racket of the world from Argentina Horacio Sabulosum. The Ukrainians will try to take revenge from his opponent in two previous defeats.
Note also that in the upper part of the tournament in the first round retired leader seeding kei nishikori, Dolgopolova which opens up good prospects for getting into the finals of the tournament.
