Syrian government troops control 90% of Aleppo

Правительственные войска Сирии контролирует 90% АлеппоThe rebels have lost control over most of the previously occupied areas of the city.

Syrian Observatory for human rights reported that government forces in Syria took control of a large district of Sheikh Saeed in the locked Syrian city of Aleppo.

As stated by the Chairman of the monitoring group, Rami Abdel Rahman, the army of President Assad subdued about 90% of the city, reports Radio Liberty.

In recent days, the army of Bashar al-Assad, with the support of the Russian Federation, ousted the rebels from the Old city in the Eastern part of Aleppo. Thus, the rebels lost control over most of the previously occupied areas of the city.

On December 8 the Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced the suspension of hostilities in the East of Aleppo to conduct major operations to evacuate civilians.
