The first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina for the first time in his career will play in the final of a clay tournament WTA Premier 5.
For reaching the final of the “Internazionali BNL d’italia” Elina Svitolina competed with the current champion of Roland Garros Garbine Muguruza. The last meeting of the tennis tournament in Indian wells ended in the defeat Svitolina in the final set with the score 0:6, and in personal meetings Muguruza was leading 3:2.
The semifinal match between Svitolina and Muguruza lasted only 24 minutes. With the score 1:4 the Spaniard, referring to the injury bandaged thigh, refused to continue the fight.
Getting into the finals of a major tournament in Rome allowed Svitolina to once again rewrite the history of the Ukrainian tennis. A new week of Kharkov will start at least at the ninth line in the WTA rankings that will be personal and national record. Moreover, Svitolina, regardless of the result of the final match in Rome will be headed Champion race WTA.
The final in Rome will be Elina Svitolina tenth in his career. The Ukrainian could make the fourth title of the season and eighth in his career.
For the victory at the “Internazionali BNL d’italia” Elina Svitolina will face fourth-ranked Simona Halep. This will be the debut face-to-face meeting of the two
players.
