Negotiations Surkov and Viktor Yanukovych continued for at least five hours.
The Russian presidential aide Vladislav Surkov met with the fugitive former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych in January 2014. This was announced by the head of Department of special investigations of the GPU Alexey Donskoy in an interview with the Russian Novaya Gazeta.
“The investigation proved that Surkov met with Yanukovych on 20 January 2014, in Mezhyhirya. Surkov arrived there no later than seven PM and left around midnight,” – said Donskoy.
According to him, in Donetsk Surkov arrived much later, on 12 February and the meeting happened at the house of Rinat Akhmetov.
“And Surkov arrived from the Crimea and at the end of the conversation immediately went to Moscow,” – said Donskoy.
“Frankly speaking, I am unlikely to share such information with the media, if Rinat Akhmetov gave is true or at least plausible testimony about the purpose and subject of this meeting,” – said the Prosecutor.
Answering the question of how the Prosecutor’s office failed to investigate the line “Surkov – Akhmetov”, don said: “I can’t give a detailed answer. The investigation continues.”
