Subaru has released a “muscular” version of the WRX STI

Subaru got a new sports exhaust system.

Subaru has introduced a special version of the WRX STI sedan, which received the designation TYPE RA-R will be available only in the Japanese market. As reported Automotiveworld.com the machine is timed to the 30th anniversary model STI, which was first published in 1988.

Compared with the basic version of the TYPE RA-R is 30 kilograms lighter, which was achieved thanks to the use of lightweight parts and even removal of some of them. Now the weight of the car amounted to 1480 pounds.

“Charged” Subaru got a new sports exhaust system, shock absorbers and springs, Brembo brakes and tires Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, which have a different composition of the mixture of rubber on the outer and inner part of the tread that allows equally well to control the car both on dry and on wet asphalt.

Externally, the TYPE RA-R can be distinguished by the grille, mirrors of carbon fiber and a cherry-red stripes on the front grille and rear bumper, as well as special nameplates on the back. Inside the car installed the front sport seats and the entire interior received a special finish with red lines.

But the main changes concerned the engine compartment, where engineers replaced the 2.5-litre to 2-litre turbo petrol with a capacity of 329 horsepower and is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. This made the car the most powerful production STI.

In Japan the car will be available at a price of 44 $ 300 and send a request for the purchase of a car will be possible on December 17 this year.
