Most of the games, the prices of which were set in U.S. dollars, can now be bought for the Ukrainian hryvnia.
The Steam service has made a decision about adding the Ukrainian hryvnia and nine other national currencies as means of payment for purchases from November 14.
Information about this has already appeared on the website of the gaming service Steam.
Missing from the library of the game?
The developers had to set prices on their games in these currencies until 14 November 2017. Otherwise, residents of these countries will not be able to buy their projects.
“Most of the games, the prices of which were set in U.S. dollars, can now be bought for the Ukrainian hryvnia in Ukraine, but some products may be available as long as they do not specify the price in the new currency,” – said in Steam.
But what about the dollars?
“Now shop from Ukraine are in Ukrainian hryvnia. US dollars in the wallets of Ukrainian accounts automatically translated into Ukrainian hryvnia at the market rate, which was set at the time of the exchange. The wallet balance can be seen on your account page”, – reported in the Steam.
“I think the opportunity to buy the game with the help of a national currency is a very good step. It reduces the barrier between the player and the purchase. It is also convenient that Steam automatically suggests prices for each currency. If we know nothing about the solvency of the players from this country can completely trust those who know,” said co-owner of the Ukrainian Studio Creoteam Andrew Kosciuszko’s comments DTF.
However, he noted that developers distributing through Steam one game — Football Tactics. For her Creoteam put the lowest among all available currencies, the price of UAH. According to Kosciuszko, it was made of the fact that the solvency of the players from Ukraine small, the developers still will not be able to earn on purchases made in our country, but at least “bring joy to your compatriots”.
In addition, Valve has identified Southeast Asia as a separate region. This allowed to reduce prices in US dollars for countries such as Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
