Ukrainian tennis player Sergiy Stakhovsky won a hard-court ATP Challenger in Portoroz (Slovenia).
For his first individual title in the season Stakhovsky competed with the 162-th racket of the world of Matteo Berrettini. The match was delayed for 2.5 hours and ended strong-willed victory of the third racket of the tournament.
Stakhovsky in the first set battled back from 1:5, but that the tie-break she made a few unforced errors and was one step away from defeat in the final.
In the second set, the players continued to test the nerves of their fans – Berrettini again made a comeback, having missed the advantage in three games, and in the tiebreak the Italian played four set-balls, while Stakhovsky at the fifth attempt sent the game into the deciding set.
From the insulting defeat in the second game the opponent Stakhovsky he couldn’t step aside – Sergei quickly took the lead 5:1 and at the second attempt successfully applied for the title.
Stakhovsky won the sixth tournament of series ATP Challenger in his career. Four experienced Ukrainian title won on tournaments of series ATP-250.
Due to the victory in Slovenia Sergiy Stakhovsky, Monday will be the company Alexander Dolgopolova in the top 100 of the ATP ranking.
