Space a blast from the past from NASA

The light from the supernova reached Earth on February 23, 1987.

Scientists using telescopes made the supernova SN 1987A, which is located in the Large Magellanic cloud and is the closest to the Earth an object of this type.

As reported on the website NASA, the explosion of a star was the brightest over the past 400 years.

According to calculations of scientists, the supernova explosion was supposed to happen over 100 years ago. He put an end to the life of a massive star and sent out a shock wave of ejected star material and bright light that reached Earth on February 23, 1987. Energy from the explosion was equal to the energy of 100 million Suns.
