Bracelet Sony Motion Sonic will transform the owner into a walking orchestra
Sony shows every year at the festival SXSW (South by Southwest) in Austin, Texas, prototyping and concepts of new projects that are part of a scientific research program Future Lab.
This year, Sony decided to delve into the development of experimental wearable devices, which use users ‘ movements, turning them into sounds. During SXSW 2017, the developers said details about the new bracelet.
The new product from Sony dubbed the Sonic Motion. The device has got sensors and microphones that detect and record the different movements of the wearer: rotation, bending of the arms, movements of feet and more. The device then analyzes the data, tying the movement to one of five preset functions.
After this, the device turns the limbs of the owner in musical instruments, allowing you to select effects and filters for each tune.
Sony showed plenty of clips showing the capabilities of the new device. For example, for those who like to give imaginary concerts, which mimic playing the guitar in complete silence, Sony offers a look at how things could change with their new bracelet.
Currently, the device supports a limited set of recognizable movements and possible audible signals. Sound playback can be done via a Bluetooth connection with a speaker system, as speaker band is not received. Presented device is just a prototype, and therefore, information regarding the approximate cost and date of release of the new Sony didn’t disclose.
