The new crossover was named Karoq.
The company Skoda has confirmed the name of its new crossover — Karoq.
It will replace in the lineup Yeti and will hit the market by the end of this year.
Representatives from Skoda announced that the names of all the SUV brand will begin with “K” and end with “Q”. As explained in the company, the name of the new crossover formed from two words of the language of the people of Alutiiq — eskimo tribe inhabiting the South coast of Alaska. The word RUQ (pronounced) means arrow, and KAA’ROQ (hisa) — car.
The novelty is executed in the style of the big crossover Skoda — Kodiaq. The SUV will be built on a modular platform MQB, and its engine lineup will include units with capacity from 1.0 to 2.0 liters. In addition, the model will appear and hybrid propulsion system, probably built on the basis of the 1.4 turbo engine.
The premiere of the car will take place on may 18 at the event in Stockholm.
The first SUV of Skoda, which was named in the new strategy is Kodiaq. The machine name was in honor of kudyakov brown bears living on the same island off the southern coast of Alaska.
