The device got edge-to-edge 5.5-inch IPS display
At the presentation in Beijing, Sharp introduced new Aquos flagship S2. During the event, the manufacturer recalled that the first frameless smartphone Aquos made its debut back in 2013, and then other companies also started to produce devices with thin frames around the display.
Now in the line of Sharp 29 “frameless” devices, and the new Aquos S2 was the most powerful of them.
The device got edge-to-edge 5.5-inch IPS-display with a resolution of 2040х1080, Snapdragon processor 630 or 660, 4 or 6 GB of RAM, 64 or 128 storage, 8-megapixel front camera and dual core camera modules 12 and 8 MP.
Sharp said that the main feature of the smartphone display a special form which allows not to change the usual location of the front camera. Prior to the implementation of the technology, smartphone makers were forced to move the selfie camera on the bottom panel. The company also noted that the size of the module developers have reduced by 12%.
The brightness of a 5.5-inch display amounted to 550 nits and a resolution of 2040х1080 unusual aspect ratio of 17:9. The Aquos S2 screen is made by technology IGZO and occupies 87.5% of the area of the front panel.
On the bottom of the front panel is a fingerprint scanner with a width of 3.6 millimeters, according to Sharp, this is the narrow gauge among all smartphones.
People who first saw the Aquos S2, compare device the size of the iPhone 6. Despite the large display size, S2 was only slightly larger than the “Apple” competitor. Dimensions of new items is 141,8 x 72,04 x 7.9 mm and weighs 140 grams.
For the production of rear panels, Sharp used a rubberized plastic, the device sat comfortably in the hand, and its frame is made of metal. Cover contains nine layers of material and prevents scratches. Aquos S2 will be available in black, white, and blue panels, but later there will be other options.
Sharp Aquos S2 uses dual vertical camera module with aperture of f/1.75 and permissions 12 and 8 MP. The smartphone supports portrait shooting with the bokeh effect.
Front camera with a resolution of 8 MP supports proprietary software for treatment self.
Aquos S2 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with Nougat shell Android 7.0. Users noted that not all applications support the particular aspect ratio of the screen of the gadget.
In the benchmark AnTuTu, the device scored 69 766 points. Sharp Aquos S2 is equipped with a port USB Type-C, but lacks support for fast charging.
The cost of the smartphone and the time of appearance in the sale are still unknown.
