Ex-first racket of the world Maria Sharapova became the champion of the tournament WTA International in Tianjin (China).
Finals at the “Tianjin Open” became for Sharapova, the first after a 15-month suspension for use of prohibited drug. She has returned to the WTA tour at the end of April, but since then she has had only one semi-final (in Stuttgart).
First title after the disqualification was given to Sharapova very difficult. Belarusian Arina Sobolenko gave the opponent the maximum resistance (5:7, 6:7).
During first set Sharapova had lost 1:4, but managed to turn the game around. In the second game, the situation repeated itself – Sobolenko led 5:1, then implemented a set-bol, and after a stubborn fight in the tie-break has conceded defeat.
The title in Tianjin brought Sharapova 280 rating points and over 110 thousand dollars in prize money. Thanks to this success five times champion of tournaments of the Grand slam Monday will become the 57th player in the world.
Maria Sharapova in China won 36th career title and first since may 2015, when she has won a major clay tournament in Rome.
