Shakhtar Donetsk became the last semifinalist of the Cup of Ukraine season 2016-2017.
Quarterfinal match of the Cup of Ukraine between Poltava and Shakhtar gave rise to another scandal in the Ukrainian football. Teams had two attempts to sport principle to determine the semifinalist of the tournament, but both times the match did not take place.
For the first time Poltava and Shakhtar had to play at the end of November, but due to the bad weather the pitch at the stadium “locomotive” was not ready to take the match. The second attempt was scheduled for April 5, this time the weather conditions match the game, but the turf at the home stadium of Poltava was again unusable.
The football Federation of Ukraine has banned the match Poltava – Shakhtar at the stadium “locomotive”. The President’s “Poltava” Leonid Sobolev ignored the decision and refused to play a match in any other stadium, in accordance with the rules.
The control and disciplinary Committee of the football Federation of Ukraine is expected to decided in favor of Shakhtar. “Poltava”, as the receiving side, scored a technical defeat with the account 0:3.
26 April, Shakhtar in the match of 1/2 final of Ukrainian Cup will play with “Dnipro”. The winner of the second voucher will define “Nikolaev” and FC Dynamo.
