Danger owners even when the gadgets are turned off
Scientists from the University of Texas at Austin (USA) found a new threat from smartphones, which is impossible to eliminate even them off.
A study published in the Journal of the Association for Consumer Research.
Experts believe that the presence of the smartphone distracts the person, and, as a consequence, leads to lower cognitive abilities, especially the ability to quickly consider in mind. This observation remains valid in the case when the gadget is turned off.
To such conclusions the authors came by testing the cognitive abilities of different people who have in one way or another have restricted access to their own smartphones. The best results were shown by the participants of the experiment, the gadgets which were in other areas.
The reason for the observed regularities experts call that part of mental effort is given to monitoring the smartphone.
In case if the participant of the experiment, the gadget did not distract (it is known that the room in which it is located, smartphone is not), people do not waste power to monitor phone and better focused on the tasks than others.
