Hubble will soon be able to get to work.
NASA experts said that the telescope “Hubble”, which was transferred into safe mode in early October, will soon be able to return to work. As reported on the Agency’s website, the researchers were able to restore the work of one of the gyroscopes of the device.
It is noted that the mission team intends to conduct additional tests in order to ensure that Hubble will be able to work with this gyro. A gyroscope is a device that measures the speed of rotation of the telescope and is needed in order for the machine to turn to new goals and commit to them.
NASA experts have made several attempts to restart the gyro. The first workshop was held on 16 October, was unsuccessful. However, on 18 October, the researchers were able to return the gyro performance in both modes (when the telescope pranavaditya from target to target, and when the telescope must keep its orientation to monitor the same object on the sky).
