The existence of oceans on ancient Mars.
On Mars there was indeed ocean.
This is reported by the staff of Northern Illinois University.
As proof, they published a map of Mars in retrospect — it is a planet covered with huge ancient ocean.
The study was made possible after a thorough analysis of the results of accurate scanning of the terrain of the red planet. All sandy valley were taken into account, then constructed a model of evolution. The volumes required for this fluid were impressive: such erosion would have required participation amount of water, more than 4 000 times the capacity directly to a valley.
This model is real only if there is a huge body of water in the ocean. Thus, the current study broadens the scope of possible “water content” of Mars in the past — compared to the previous views of scientists the Red planet had to be approximately ten orders of magnitude more “wet”.
However, all this leads to some contradictions. According to the same models, conditions on ancient Mars could not imply the presence of a full hydrological cycle, like the one that we see today on our planet.
To calculate the unknown components in the mysterious equation will scientists of the future.
