Until recently it was believed that here for a long time will not appear normal flora and fauna, but recent studies have brought a very unexpected and even shocking result.

The idea of the project

Scientists from the UK have launched a project to study how the planet recovers after such a terrible disaster. In particular, researchers were interested in the local flora and fauna: it is important to understand how long it takes nature to return to the right path of development.

Beasts from the past

The first studies on the ground showed a surprising picture: In the Chernobyl zone of alienation is not only nearly recovered population of animals are endemic, but there are a few species that were considered extinct more than a century ago.

We have to admit that man is destroying the world much more effectively than any nuclear explosion and subsequent radiation contamination. Over the last thirty years in the exclusion zone animal became many times more.

Wild life

On the side of the Ukrainian territory scientists have identified 45 cameras whose data allowed to understand the true size of the population of the local fauna. Forest of Chernobyl is reminiscent of a pastoral picture of a biology textbook: wild boars, wolves, ROE deer and foxes feel absolutely fine.

Atomic reserve

And rare, has long been unseen in this area animals. European lynx, brown bear, bison and even the Przewalski’s horse — the radiation may not be a good thing, but you know what? It affects the nature of a lot better than people. We can say that we are worse than nuclear war for the flora and fauna of our planet.
