NASA has revealed the “heart” of Mars.
NASA published a picture of the surface of Mars, allowing to address the underlying rock.
In the comments to the photo, the researchers noted that the Red planet is covered by mostly fine-grained rocks, under which are hidden the root. On the picture reddish layers of bedrock exposed and partially covered by sand dunes.
The image was taken using the camera’s High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE), which is installed on Board the spacecraft Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. The spacecraft is at an altitude of about 300 kilometers above the surface of Mars.
The official Twitter HiRISE scientists noted that they were able to capture “the eloquent heart” of the planet.
