Prior to that, was considered the warmest year of 2015. The authors of the report found that most of the indicators of climate change continue to “follow the trend of warming” and the indicators of surface temperatures of ocean and land, sea level and the level of greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere have broken records in 2015.

The results of last year were caused by the joint effect of long-term global warming phenomenon El niño, which represents the temperature variations of the surface water layer in the Equatorial Pacific ocean.

The report employs scientists from the national centers NOAA along with more than 450 colleagues from nearly 60 countries.

The concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere in 2016 reached a record level in the history — 402,9 (ppm), which is 3.5 more than a year earlier. This is the highest growth for the year for 58 years. The increase in the surface temperature of land and ocean in 2016 ranged from 0.45 to 0.56 degrees Celsius. The sea level rose to 82 mm, also setting a record since 1993, when we started monitoring this indicator.

A report by the American research center comes on the backdrop of the U.S. decision to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement, as urged by President Donald trump. He believes the agreement is not convenient for the business and the taxpayers of the United States. According to him, by 2025, when the implementation of the provisions of the Treaty the US could lose 2.7 million jobs.

The Paris agreement was signed in 2015, 196 countries. The most secured state in the framework of the contract should allocate $ 100 billion to developing countries for the solution of climate problems.
