Already a lot is known about the bacteria and the bulk of knowledge is a concern
A recent study conducted by researchers from the University of California can cause a real horror.
The problem is that bacteria are more organized than previously thought, they can even send each other messages. This is the conclusion of a new study, which studied a thin layer of biofilm and its properties.
Biofilms are in different places, they can be detected even in dental plaque. Bacteria create biofilms in order to make them harder to defeat is a kind of protective layer which is difficult to break through the drugs. It is believed that biofilms are the cause of more than 80 percent of all microbial infections in the body, so if we can learn more about how they are formed, and how we could separate them it would be a huge victory for medicine.
Now scientists report that bacteria send to each other messages, while not simple, and recruiting, calling under the biofilm.
“Thus, bacteria in biofilms can have long-term and dynamic control over the behavior of distant cells that are not part of their community,” explains lead researcher Gural, MS Suely.
Understanding of the biofilm will allow it to destroy and, consequently, to divide the strongest ties of bacteria.
