The large hadron Collider has allowed us to open five new elementary particles.
CERN scientists discovered five new particles, containing the so-called charmed quarks.
Particles have been discovered quite by accident: physics studied a completely different process — the decay of superheavy particles are similar to protons.
All open particles represent the variations of the omega-hyperon – super-heavy particles containing a heavy quark. The properties of these quarks was predicted by the Standard model of physics, and some of them have already been discovered by scientists. The mass of these particles is about three times larger than proton or neutron.
Scientists have already performed some tests, and certify that I recorded the new particles and the measurement instruments reflect the actual increased interaction and are not the result of some extraneous factors.
Now researchers must determine the quantum numbers of these new particles and their theoretical value. It will add data to our understanding of the relationships between quark and multi-quark States, which will lead to the further development of quantum theory in General. In the end, CERN has called this discovery “a hotbed of new and outstanding results in physics”.
The large hadron Collider is the most powerful particle accelerator ever built. It includes a 27-kilometer ring of superconducting magnets and accelerating structures, built to enhance the energy of the particles in the chamber. In the accelerator two beams of high-energy particles, are forced to face opposite directions with a speed close to the speed of light.
