A group of scientists from the USA discovered the periodic change of temperature on Pluto.
So, the researchers found that the upper part of the surface of the ice planet periodically warms and begins to melt.
The result is a thin layer of vapor around the planet.
It was found that periodic heating on Pluto occur every few thousand years, that is, from the astronomical point of view, quite often.
The reason for this unusual phenomenon for the last planet of the Solar system are large-scale chemical reactions at the planet’s core, resulting in changes of its composition. Which in turn leads to increase in temperature.
Although ordinary for Pluto’s temperature is about minus 180 degrees Celsius, failed to prove that the planet is periodically heated to positive temperatures. Which explains the presence of methane gas in its atmosphere.
