Aspirin increases the evolutionary potential of tumor cells.
American scientists have discovered a dangerous property of aspirin. A study published in the Journal of the Royal Society Interface.
Aspirin, as shown by scientists, although it also slows the development of malignant neoplasms of the colon, along with this increases the evolutionary potential of tumor cells.
The latest undergo multiple mutations compared with tumour cells not exposed to drug. Thus, because aspirin increased the proportion of cancer cells that are resistant to medicines.
To such conclusions the authors came to the laboratory experiments in vitro. In the plan of scientists is to check the results in vivo.
A growing body of research shows that taking a daily low-dose aspirin for five years reduces the risk of developing cancer in the future. In particular, the probability of occurrence of malignant neoplasms of the colon is cut in half.
In the U.S. approximately 50 percent of the adult population daily for the prevention of cardiovascular disease taking 80-325 mg aspirin. In the UK the figure is 40 percent.
