Scientists have created a greenhouse for life on Mars

Such a greenhouse can sustain life for many years, growing food in space.

Since the stay of astronauts on Mars will require significant resources, NASA, along with researchers from the agricultural Department of the University of Arizona have teamed up to simplify the lives of future astronauts on Mars.

The length of the greenhouse “Lunar Greenhouse” is about 5.5 meters and two meters and diameter. In the middle of the greenhouse have created a special climatic conditions that will support plant life in space.

The developers note that most of the greenhouse fully recreates the environment on Earth.

The system will operate as follows: the astronauts exhale carbon dioxide, which is used by plants for photosynthesis. Water for plants, brought with him into space or found at the site, will be oxygenated, mixed with nutrients, then injected into the stream, where plant roots, acting as a ground.

Scientists from the University of Arizona today learn best seeds for growing plants in this environment, while the astronauts are improving the experience of growing plants on the space station.
